Set sail aboard the iconic maxi yacht Brindabella and experience South Australia from an entirely new perspective. Over three unforgettable days, you’ll voyage across Gulf St Vincent to Kangaroo Island – a pristine marine wilderness just hours from Adelaide, yet a world away. Encounter marine life, dine on fresh-caught seafood, and sleep under the stars aboard one of Australia’s most famous racing yachts, now reimagined for adventure and indulgence.

This is a ticketed experience, open to individuals and small groups (up to 6 guests total). If you’d prefer the entire yacht to yourself, private charters are available – simply choose a date and bring your crew.

Itinerary Overview

Day 1 – Set Sail for Kangaroo Island

Depart mid-morning from the Royal South Australian Yacht Squadron and head south. As we sail the coastline, you’ll enjoy gourmet nibbles, local wines, and sightings of dolphins, seals, or even whales.
We anchor based on the best conditions, typically around Nepean Bay or the American River estuary. Once anchored, explore the area via tender, SUP, or snorkel – or simply relax onboard with a cold drink and the sea breeze.
Fishing rods are also available if you’d like to try your luck catching the famous Kangaroo Island King George whiting.
As the sun sets, enjoy a generous seafood dinner served on deck, featuring local crayfish and SA-inspired tapas.

Day 2 – Oysters & Island Leisure

Wake to the gentle sway of the bay and fresh coffee served up on deck.
Mid-morning, we aim to head ashore to meet the Kangaroo Island oyster farmers for a behind-the-scenes tour of their marine leases, followed by a hands-on shucking and tasting session at their coastal homestead.
Please note: The oyster farm experience is subject to availability and may be affected by the current algae bloom crisis in South Australia. We will keep guests updated and provide an equally memorable alternative should this part of the itinerary need to be adjusted.
Afterwards, enjoy a tender trip through the estuary or a swim at Island Beach before returning to Brindabella for a relaxed afternoon and second night onboard.

Day 3 – Spinnaker Run Home

With favourable south-westerlies, expect a thrilling spinnaker sail back up the gulf. Soak up the ocean air, unwind on deck, or learn the ropes as we cruise toward Adelaide.
Arrive back at the Squadron mid-late afternoon – sun-kissed, salty, and satisfied.

Accommodation

• Forward private king suite available to the first couple to book

• Single bunks for remaining guests in the main saloon (shared space)
